The Octomore brand has enjoyed cult status since its launch in 2008. The focus here is on the taste, expressiveness, and uniqueness of each bottling. Collectors and fans are particularly fascinated not only by comparing the individual malts within each series, but also by the differences from one series to the next. The maturation period for an Octomore is typically five years, and the barley malt is extremely heavily peated.
The 15.1 (the .1 is always the backbone of every series) was matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks and recharred ex-bourbon casks with the aim of extracting the maximum aromas and character from the wood.
A true Octomore – expressive and full of character with an intense aroma palette that ranges from vanilla-sweet to intensely smoky.
