Waterford "The Wanderer" - Micro Cuvée

With The Cuvée, Mark Reynier's progressive Waterford distillery blends 25 unique single-farm origin whiskies from diverse terroirs in Southern Ireland to create a multifaceted, in-depth tasting experience. Kirsch has now worked exclusively with Head Distiller Ned Gahan to create a small, limited-edition version of this Waterford-inspired single malt. The Micro Cuvée, The Wanderer, represents the path the distillery has chosen for itself and the one we are exploring together with Waterford: toward the natural flavor of the terroir.

For the hiker, Kirsch has explored the latitudes and longitudes of Waterford's Single Farm Origins. The result: a unique, sweet, and smoky whisky for the road. This Irish Single Malt Whisky is based on Sauternes casks, incorporates barrels from the Tinnashrule farm, and complements everything with a portion of the recently released single malt from the Fenniscourt farm—made from Irish peat malt. 1,200 bottles are ready to be released on the German market starting today.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Earthy, post-brewing barley hulls, sweet hay, fennel seeds, warm apricots, milk chocolate, mint tea, honey wax, pear cake.
Palate: Cloves, spicy tingle, cherries, grapefruit, roasted tomatoes, light tobacco, root vegetables, chewy.
Finish: Long, warm and spicy, with gentle highlights.
