The Glenallachie 17 Years 2009/2024 - Masters of Wood

With the 35 yo, officially released last week, Billy Walker has created his oldest bottling to date for The GlenAllachie. With The GlenAllachie 17 yo – Mizunara & Oloroso Cask Finish, he has created perhaps his most luxurious. This single malt launches the Masters of Wood series, the new super-premium division of the Wood Collection, which brings together only the finest and most experimental finishes.

The GlenAllachie is known for its keenness in sourcing and managing both high-quality and unusual casks from around the world. Part of the impressive inventory? Mizunara casks. This Japanese oak is rarely used for whisky maturation due to its high price and the challenges it presents during storage.

Billy Walker combined this rare cask whisky with Oloroso sherry puncheons and hogsheads. After 17 years of maturation, the exquisite result blends typical heather honey with dried orange peel, cinnamon apples, and fig syrup, dusted with cocoa, pecans, and Demerara sugar.
