The Teaninich 14 Year Old 2011/2025 - The Caskhound - Crazy Coos #6, bottled on April 22, 2025, comes from Scotland/Highlands and is a single malt. The bottle contains 52.5% alcohol by volume at cask strength.
The TEANINICH distillery is located in the Northern Highlands near the Cromarty Firth and is prized for its clear, structured, aromatic whiskies with exciting spice. Our bottling spent the first 12 years in an ex-bourbon cask before being further aged for two years in a noble Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead.
This sixth edition of the CRAZY COOS RELOADED series also impresses visually with its idiosyncratic charm: This time, the stylish "TARTAN COO" takes center stage, setting the tone with casual elegance. As always, Lana Mathieson's illustration gives the whisky a fitting face—with character, wit, and a keen sense of Scottish idiosyncrasies.
Thanks to the second-fill cask, the Andalusian sweet wine exhibits a subtle presence – blending smoothly into the overall picture without overpowering the whisky. The 52.5% ABV is excellently integrated and provides the perfect platform for the malt's diverse aromas.
Floral and delicately spicy on the nose, it begins soft and creamy on the palate before unfolding depth and structure. Sweetness and spice interplay elegantly – from mead and toffee to bitter orange and figs, cinnamon, clove, and a hint of salt. The finish is dry, nutty, and pleasantly oaky – like a warm summer evening in an old Highland cottage. A dram for connoisseurs who prefer more subdued tones but don't want to forgo depth.
Soft as a ray of sunshine on the skin – the first impression is sweet and rich. Toffee, bitter orange marmalade, and dried figs slowly unfold, accompanied by almond biscuit and a creamy touch of cheesecake. Then it becomes more spicy: cinnamon, clove, and cardamom dance on the tongue, before vanilla cream with pickled cherries heralds an indulgent finale. A pinch of salt on the lips evokes the coasts and moors of the Highlands...
