Macallan 20 Years 2001/2021 Gordon & Macphail - Speymalt

Legally operating since 1824, with 36 stills, a production volume of at least 15 million liters, and a distillery building that blends as naturally into the landscape as the hills of the Highlands: Macallan is one of Scotland's most famous whisky distilleries. Independent bottlings of their wonderfully complex distillates are rare, and even rarer are those bottled under the distillery's name. Nevertheless, they can be found – at irregular intervals – at the traditional bottler Gordon & MacPhail.

This new single-cask rarity matured for around two decades in sherry-filled oak cask no. 5103. The Speymalt from Macallan Distillery 2001/2021 is an exemplary single malt for discerning sherry connoisseurs. Neither chill-filtered nor colored, it unfolds at a cask-strength 57.6% ABV with refined sherry aromas that transition to Seville orange peel, cinnamon, and ginger. Rich fruit compote with dark chocolate, roasted hazelnuts, and caramelized apples lead the connoisseur's palate to a medium-bodied, smooth finish with hints of toasted oak.
