Guyana Years 1990/2024 - RumClub - Private Selection #50

RumClub Private Selection Ed. 50 from Guyana was distilled in December 1990 in the Versailles Wooden Pot Still. This wooden pot still has been in operation for over 100 years and has moved three times, from the Versailles Estate to the Enmore and Uitvlugt Distilleries, before reaching its current home at DDL and the Diamond Distillery. The aroma of this historic still is exceptional and is recognizable by its often bright fruitiness and "pencil" notes. Due to the wood used in the original still, this aroma and profile cannot be reproduced.

This rum was distilled in December 1990 and matured for a full 34 years in an ex-bourbon cask. This very long maturation period ensures a particularly smooth and elegant flavor profile. Notes of yellow fruits, oak, and marzipan, as well as a subtle herbal note, create a wonderful aroma. On the palate, the rum impresses from the very first moment with its wonderful fullness and intensity. The rum is incredibly complex and compact – in the sense of a great deal of flavor.

On the palate, yellow fruits, plums, and herbs are our first associations, followed by a subtle citrus fruitiness and the characteristic pencil shavings. The perfectly balanced alcohol content ensures an infinitely long and very, very elegant finish that leaves us absolutely speechless. This rum is perhaps the best we've ever bottled.
