For the second time, The GlenAllachie Distillery, led by industry legend Billy Walker, has achieved this feat: The independent Speyside distillery's single malt has been crowned World's Best. Following Batch 4 of The GlenAllachie 10 yo Cask Strength in 2021, The GlenAllachie 12 yo secured the overall win over all other whiskies at the 2025 World Whiskies Awards on Wednesday.
Double reason to celebrate: The GlenAllachie is the only Scottish whisky brand to have won the hotly contested award since 2017. Previous winners came from England, Israel, and Japan.
The GlenAllachie 12 yo is the flagship of the distillery's premium portfolio. Crafted by one of Scotland's most talented and legendary master blenders, the single malt matures in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, as well as red wine and new oak casks. According to the jury of the World Whiskies Awards 2025, the gold-winning result is characterized by "dried apple, gourmet chutney, orange peel, nutmeg, and cinnamon."
