Ghana 2020/2025 - RumClub - Private Selection #54

Ghana has a growing rum scene with several distilleries producing exceptional spirits. Mim Cashew & Agricultural Products Ltd. is one of these exciting producers. This family-run organic cashew plantation in western Ghana produces premium cashews, cashew brandy, and the finest rum from fresh sugarcane juice. This special Single Cask Rum was distilled in 2020 in the 2,000-liter pot still. After arriving in Europe, it matured for four years in a former bourbon barrel. The result is a vibrant, floral aroma, beautifully complemented by woody notes, giving the rum a complex and rich flavor profile. This Single Cask Rum has been bottled at cask strength, preserving its full character without any additives.

On the nose, the RumClub Ed. 54 appears exceptionally complex and round. The aromatic diversity ranges from a light honey sweetness to tropical fruits and vanilla aromas from the ageing. A similar interplay occurs on the palate – a very subtle grassiness, which is then enveloped in a pleasant oak note from the barrel. This is accompanied by aromas of grapefruit, mango, and grapes. The finish is particularly pleasant and round. The alcohol is incredibly well integrated, so that at no point does the drink feel overwhelming.
