Fans know the Harz Single Malt The Journey as an annually reissued edition. Now, the Hercynian Distilling Co. is adding a standard to its flagship—and for the first time, with an age statement. The Journey 12 yo marks the proud beginning of this whisky journey.
For this new phase, the whisky, distilled from barley and chocolate malt, matured exclusively in first-fill casks pre-filled with sherry, port, Marsala, and Málaga. Instead of the usual 43% ABV for the vintage editions, Batch 1 was bottled at the ideal drinking strength of 46% ABV. The effect: a delight from the highest mountains in northern Germany – darker, fuller, and many times more complex.
