Bowmore 18 Years 2003/2022 - Whisky Sponge

This is an 18-year-old Bowmore. It was distilled in 2003 and matured in a refill sherry butt, but a few years ago its maturation was "paused" because it had spent some time out of the cask. It was then transferred back into another refill sherry butt to continue maturing. Hence the 18-year-old age. This is a sibling cask of the 17-year-old Bowmore that Decadent bottled as Whisky Sponge Edition No. 50, except this time it has an extra year of maturation under its belt.

This cask isn't quite as sherry-heavy as its brother. It's an exuberantly fruity and classic modern Bowmore with beautiful nuances of soft, dry peat smoke, a wealth of coastal freshness and mineral character, and lighter background notes of leather, tar, and eucalyptus from the refill sherry influence. Beautiful, powerful, chiseled, and complex.

No soap was discovered or used during the creation of this bottling. The entire Decadent Drinks team would like to thank Rembrandt for his kind death in 1669, which allowed us to enjoy his masterpiece, "The Storm on the Sea of ​​Galilee," without fear of legal retribution.
