Ardnahoe 5 Years - Inaugural Release
With Ardnahoe, the classic Islay style is rediscovered, which is also reflected in the design - A New Islay Classic .
Distillery Manager Fraser Hughes created the first generation of Ardnahoe using traditional methods: softly peated Islay water is drawn from Loch Ardnahoe, while the distillery uses two traditional worm tubs—the only ones on Islay. These were selected to give the malt additional depth of flavor and complexity.
Ardnahoe is Scottish Gaelic for "height of the deep." The loch is located in the northeastern corner of Islay and offers breathtaking views over the Sound of Islay and the Paps of Jura.
Tasting Notes: Shortbread, baked apples, and Islay peat, with smoke on the nose. Vanilla custard, ginger, lemon peel, and baked apples on the palate lead to a long, smoky finish.
