A single barrel of heavily peated Loch Lomond, distilled in 2005 and matured for 19 years before being bottled at natural cask strength. This cask was pretty active and has really concentrated the tarry and peat flavours in this whisky. It's a very big and extremely satisfying whisky that blends older style elements with much more modern characteristics.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Very tarry and oily, big pure notes of dry peat smoke, hessian and some herbal medicinal qualities. A big impression of wood spice and unlit cigars too.

Palate: Superb texture and power upon arrival. Maintains the peppery and tarry intensity of the peat, with even more medicinal qualities coming through and a nice tension between wood spice and sweet smoke.

Finish: Very long, camphory, tarry, peaty and peppery with notes of smoked teas and kippers in the aftertaste.
