Powerful, characterful drams with distinct smoky notes, maritime overtones, and malty sweetness: The Swedish micro-distillery Smögen produces single malts that make the hearts of peat lovers beat faster.
With Askeim 8 yo, Smögen launched a new range at the end of 2024 that highlights the long-lost flavors of old, classic barley varieties – without peat smoke. With this lower-yielding, yet more powerful and distinctive grain, Smögen prioritizes flavor and character over yield and production costs.
Batch 2 is again based on the Golden Promise barley variety. Particularly dominant in the 1970s, it had long since been displaced in the whisky industry by newer, higher-yielding varieties. After triple distillation, the raw spirit spent eight intensive years in 50-liter sherry quarter casks. The result? A delightful old-school malt – smooth, malty, and full of flavor.
We ship exclusively with DHL. Optionally, and for an additional charge, we offer DHL Express (not available in Germany). Furthermore, all shipments are sent with DHL age verification.
