Octomore Edition 15.2 - 108.2
The Octomore brand has enjoyed cult status since its launch in 2008. The focus here is on the taste, expressiveness, and uniqueness of each bottling. Collectors and fans are particularly fascinated not only by comparing the individual malts within each series, but also by the differences from one series to the next. The maturation period for an Octomore is typically five years, and the barley malt is extremely heavily peated.
The 15.2 is an exciting companion to the 15.1. It is also distilled from 100% Scottish Mainland Concerto barley at 108.2 ppm. However, it was matured in a mix of second-fill wine and second-fill ex-bourbon casks. Finishing took place in first-fill cognac casks. This trio forms the basis for an extremely complex and elegant single malt Scotch whisky with aromas reminiscent of nutmeg, toasted oak, and caramel. The light floral note contrasting with the earthy smoke is particularly exciting.
