What unites the rum world? Its diversity. With the Transcontinental Rum Line (TCRL), La Maison & Velier reflect the great diversity of this sugarcane spirit. Selected overseas rums are first aged in oak barrels in their country of origin – at tropical temperatures for rapid, intense maturation and robust aromas. After shipping to the French bottler, some of the rums are further aged in continental climates. This gives them additional complexity. All rums in the line are bottled without additives and are not chill-filtered.
While TCRL follows a regular schedule, single casks are exceptional stops along the route. The Jamaica HD 2012/2024 is one of the bottler's exclusive single casks—and was selected by us exclusively for Kirsch customers.
With this limited bottling of just 223 bottles, a celebrated traditional distillery showcases its cask-strength and individuality. This Pure Single Rum was distilled in 2012 from fermented molasses in double retort pot stills. It matured for three years under tropical conditions in Jamaica's famous Trelawny region in Bourbon Cask #HD12BT05. The cask then spent another nine years on the European continent and can now develop unhindered with a powerful 55.9% ABV and an ester content of 197 g/hlpa.
