It's a 40-year-old Speysider from a distillery founded in 1836 and now family-owned. The single malt was allowed to spend its entire maturation period in sherry casks and, despite the long time in the cask, still has an ABV of 54.9%. It was distilled in 1982 and bottled in 2022. 528 bottles are available.
Tasting Notes
Nose: noble and very aromatic, spicy wood, wood polish and sawdust, ripe fruit, sour cherries, chokeberry and plum jam, with licorice, tobacco, Christmas biscuits and coffee liqueur
Taste: wonderfully complex, extremely full-bodied and tasty, full wood, but without bitterness, coffee, chocolate, overripe grapes, fine citrus notes and noble dryness
Finish: long and dry, spicy but without bitterness, extremely elegant, with power but also delicate finesse, complex spice notes in the aftertaste
