In reference to the historic Harz Imperial Route, the extremely limited whiskies of the Hercynian brand Emperor's Way are usually named after kings and emperors. The Harz distillers make a rare exception for a royal guest appearance.
With the Emperor's Way Cream Sherry Single Cask, we have secured an exclusive bottling for Kirsch customers. The temporary throne is occupied by a five-year-old single malt from a single cask, pre-aged with cream sherry. Its base is a (semi-)dry Oloroso sherry, blended with naturally sweet wine or concentrated grape must.
As is typical for the series, the single cask was distilled from 100 percent local barley, which is kilned over peat from Lower Saxony to as little as 35 ppm. The 250 bottles blend full-bodied notes of peat smoke, sweet dried fruits, and almonds.
