Pepin III or Henry IV: The extremely limited whiskies from the Harz region's Emperor's Way brand are named after kings and emperors. In honor of these royal leaders, the Hammerschmiede distillery designs its Peated Hercynian Single Malt with a strong smoky flavor and delicate fruity notes. The bottlings are made from 100 percent peat malt with up to 35 ppm.
Now, a whisky throne has been established for good: With Emperor's Way The Imperial Abbey, the Hercynian Distilling Co. crowns its series. This new sovereign is the first standard bottling in the series and expands the distillery's core range. Batch 1 matured exclusively in first-fill sherry casks. With a wide range of pre-fermentations, including cream sherry, Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso, and Palo Cortado, they develop into a harmoniously balanced whisky with notes of smoke, mandarin oranges, raisins, Christmas cake, almonds, spicy oak, and dark chocolate.
