For the first time in Ardbeg's history, this whisky has been matured in coveted port casks and classic ex-bourbon casks. As Dr. Bill, our Head of Whisky Creation, says:
"This whisky is a true smorgasbord of flavors! Completely crazy and truly spectacular. This is a whisky for real freaks!"
The dark color of these exquisite port casks opens a veritable circus in the glass: Fragrant lavender, vetiver, and frankincense blend into a rich almond nuttiness. Peat smoke, eucalyptus oil, mint chocolate, and toffee mingle with notes of smoked pecans, creosote, and tar. Subtly sweet pear crumble and soft toffee notes lurk in the ring.
