Akkeshi 2023 - Shoman - 24 Solar Term Series

The Akkeshi distillery, which only began operations around eight years ago with two Forsyths pot stills, is already a success story. Like its role models on the whisky island of Islay, the distillery from the Hokkaido region is located directly on the sea—just a few meters from the Pacific Ocean. Surrounded by swamps, it also has direct access to the local peat, through which the water for production flows.

As a World Blend, the Akkeshi Shoman 2023 combines some of the finest malt and grain whiskies from around the world. Shoman translates as "Nature Flourishes" and represents the May season that fills animals and plants with vitality. The eleventh whisky in the Seasons series is the first for Akkeshi to feature a strong influence of rum casks, but is also aged in bourbon, sherry, wine, and mizunara casks. The result is a multifaceted experience that blends tropical fruits with charcoal smoke, bacon, herbs, and honey.
