A refill barrel of 2009 Ardmore, that was then re-racked and finished for just over two years in a very knackered old refill butt, where it enjoyed a huge amount of headspace and air exposure. We bottled the resulting 15 year old Ardmore with a
few degrees reduction to 53% and we love this rich, softly peaty, waxy, distillate-driven style.
TASTING NOTES
Nose: Aromatic, farmyard peat smoke, peppery, green olive, tar and sheep wool, with underlying citrus fruits and waxes.
Palate: Rather bold, punchy and full of medicines, waxes, soft peppery drying peat smoke, more lemony and citrus fruit vibes and a creamy, olive oil style textural character.
Finish: Long, wonderful fading peat smoke, more green olive, pepper, olive oil, bonfire embers and coal scuttle impressions.
